The TaylorMade TP golf balls are an in-house favorite. I’ve hit all kinds of different golf balls in search of that perfect balance of distance and touch. I found a few good ones that felt nice, like the Callaway HX, the Bridgestone B330, and the Pro V1; I even like the Nike Mojo for the price. But then the clouds opened and a buddy put a sleeve of the TaylorMade TP golf balls in my hand. At first I was pretty skeptical. TaylorMade wasn’t known for their amazing golf balls. I teed it up for the first time and it felt like a spring off the club face. It looked good, it felt good, and had great distance. I looked at my buddy and said, “Nice, but that means the short game feel will only be okay”. So I pulled out the “Big 8″ and got ready for the feeling of a rock coming off the club face. Wrong!! I was blown away! The ball felt like it had been a dream. I looked at my buddy and said, “Sold”!!!!

The Mumbo Jumbo

So here’s the part where we talk about all the technical “Mumbo Jumbo” and explain in a very short sentence what it means.

The TaylorMade TP golf ball has a NdV4 Super-Core Technology for Accelerated Ball Speed. A neodymium-based rubber compound that combines ultra-high COR and exceedingly low compression. In layman’s terms: Faster Ball + Less Spin = MORE DISTANCE.

The TaylorMade TP golf ball has a Pentangular Di-Pyramid Dimple (PDP) Design for Increased Carry, Consistency and Stability. This dimple design helps with aerodynamics that give the ball greater lift with less drag. In layman terms: The Cooler the Dimples, the Farther the Distance.

The TaylorMade TP golf ball has a Multi-blend Ionomer Mantle for added Speed and Optimal Launch. The mantle in the TP Red and TP Black does two things. One, it helps regulate each ball’s launch angle off both the driver and the irons. Two, its high-COR compound works with the core to boost ball speed, making the high-speed qualities built into each model accessible to not just higher swing speeds, but average swing speeds as well. In layman’s terms: Your guess is as good as mine! I just know it works!

Finally the TaylorMade TP golf ball also has an Ultra-thin Thermoset Urethane Cover for Superior Spin. The thermoset urethane cover delivers a tour-caliber blend of spin, soft feel and superior durability. In layman’s terms: You’re not going to have to replace your ball after every 9 iron approach.
